飛騨高山市の重要文化財の民家「日下部家住宅」に隣接する町家を日下部家の宿泊施設「谷屋」として改修した。建物の歴史が刻まれた既存の要素と、飛騨地方を中心とした各地に残る伝統産業の手仕事を共存させ、過去から未来につながる新しい空間表現を試みている。
A traditional townhouse as annex of the Important Cultural Heritage Kusakabe Family Residence in Takayama, Hida, was renovated as Taniya, the Kusakabe family’s guest accommodation. The project seeks to create a new spatial expression that bridges past and future by preserving architectural elements that embody the building’s history, while integrating the craftsmanship of traditional industries that continue to survive in the Hida region and beyond.
